How do I know if my date is interested in me? |
It has been said that you usually will determine if you are attracted to your date within the first 15 seconds of interacting with them. For most people, this is a barrier that must be crossed before personality is even a factor. To determine personality often takes months but you usually have a sense for a person's demeanor within an hour or two.
When you are on a date there are often plenty of signals that you can look for to determine if your date is interested or not. If is interested in you, it is the little signals that often can be used to determine a person's level of interest.
Here are a few you can look for:
- Frequent and genuine smiles are probably the easiest way to tell if a person is interested.
- When you are at dinner, does your date lean into the conversation or do they sit back in their chair? Leaning back in the chair is generally a sign of disinterest. Conversely, if a person looks attentive and generally holds their shoulders high, that is usually a signed of perked interest.
- Does your date ask you a lot of questions about you? A lot of personal questions is often a sign of interest in getting to someone better.
- Does your date continually check their watch or their cell phone? This may fall into the bad-cell-phone etiquette category but generally if a person is paying more attention to the incidental distractions or even inventing distractions it is often a method for putting distance between themselves and you.
- If your date is a woman, cute gestures such as holding shrugging of the shoulders, curving of the feet inward, or even tilting the head to speak are classic subtle flirting mannerisms. If your date is a man, look for indications such as holding his chest our or shoulders high in a proud manner.
